Metals and Alloys TESTING

The MES metal test lab performs mechanical, metallurgical, chemical, environmental, failure analysis, and corrosion testing of metal materials.

METAL TESTING CAPABILITIES

Our proven mechanical test lab provides controlled tensile strength testing, hardness testing, Charpy impact resistance, shear, strain, compression and wear resistance testing for a number of environmental conditions.

The MES chemical analysis lab provides analysis by optical emission spectroscopy (OES), X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDS), and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). These techniques provide metal chemical analysis for solids, particles, and ores.

The team of MES metallurgists can perform a metallographic examination on your samples in our optical lab to determine grain size, impurities, inclusion counts, or heat affects.

THE MES METAL TESTING DIFFERENCE

Metallurgical Engineering Services is a proven metals testing and engineering firm that was started in 1985. The MES lab is A2LA ISO/IEC 17025 accredited and in compliance with ISO 9001.

Our destructive and non-destructive metal testing services are performed at our facility located near Dallas, TX (USA).

Testing services can be performed on a wide-range of products, including pipe, bar, plates, welds, fasteners and castings. MES has an in-house machine shop to quickly make specimens and samples for all metals testing.

Our extensive experience in metallurgical testing allows us to offer a one stop shop for mechanical testing, non-destructive inspection, and micro analysis. We offer testing at a range of test temperatures and provide volume discounts for large orders.

METAL TESTING REPORTS

Upon completion of your metals testing or analysis, a comprehensive report will be provided with a summary of test data, referenced test specification, and instrumentation data. The metal analysis report may include grading information to a given metal alloy specification.

METAL FAILURE ANALYSIS

In addition to materials testing, our experts offer failure analysis to get to the root cause of an issue. Failure analysis is the process of collecting and analyzing data to determine the cause of premature degradation or fracture. Root cause analysis often involves an organized series of tests across multidisciplinary areas. By offering a complete testing laboratory, MES can quickly solve even the most complex failures within one facility. By determining the source of the failure, we can help to prevent future failures. We start by taking the necessary time to understand and characterize the problem thoroughly. The experience of our multi-discipline staff of scientists and engineers can quickly help determine the root cause of a polymeric failure.
